The Noosa Parks EnviroForum is a new evening initiative of the Noosa Parks Association to enable the continued education of the community in leading environmental global research and its implications on a national, state and local level.
The Noosa Parks EnviroForum is held monthly on the 4th Wednesday evening of the month at the NPA Environment Centre in Wallace Park at 1/5 Wallace Drive, Noosaville. See Map below
The EnviroForum will begin at 5:30 p.m. with live music, drinks, delicious finger food provided and a chance to socialise and meet the speaker.
At 6:15 p.m. the program will begin with an interesting talk by a researcher or expert in their environmental field. Topics will have strong scientific and research basis and focus on environmental issues that face our community now and in the future. Speakers will represent current global and local research with local implication with topics that are relevant to both Noosa, the Sunshine Coast, and the world on a larger scale- a range of diverse topics from the state of our koala habitats, to the realities of our waterways, to the importance of sea cucumbers!
The evening will conclude by 7:30 pm after a brief question and discussion time.
The Noosa Parks Association is an organisation of volunteers who give their time to advocate for important local environmental issues for the good of the whole community. We encourage you to come along and join. A donation of $5 is suggested and this will go towards acquiring land for biodiversity corridors. Single memberships are $33 per year and application forms can be downloaded by clicking here – Membership information

Adrian the Aussie Adventurer- a polar force on global warming
Dr Adrian McCallum is probably the most adventurous academic/explorer you’ll ever meet. A helicopter navigator, meteorologist and civil engineer, Dr McCallum has led or participated in adventurous scientific expeditions around the globe, to far-flung locations including Svalbard, Greenland, across the Arctic and Antarctica, to the Himalaya and the ice caps of Patagonia.

Dr McCallum holds a PhD from the Scott Polar Research Institute, University of Cambridge and additional degrees in oceanography, meteorology and civil engineering. He currently serves as a lecturer in science & engineering at the University of Sunshine Coast and manages courses in soil mechanics, geotechnical engineering and climate change adaptation.
Adrian has led a wonderful life of adventure and exploration around the globe and is an expert in remote area science and engineering. At Noosa Parks EnviroForum, he will outline his adventures in cold climates, explaining the scientific evidence and impact of global climate change. He will explain how this affects the Sunshine Coast and suggest adaptations that will be needed.
Join Adrian on an adventurous journey that captures his encounters with a changing climate around the globe, before examining implications closer to home.
