Noosa – the very word itself has become iconic. Today’s Noosa is a major tourist destination as well as a magnet for residents seeking a lifestyle that combines urban sophistication with natural beauty. In the way it has managed its natural environment and maintained a low-key human footprint, Noosa is quite unlike other Australian coastal settlements. Noosa Parks Association played a fundamental role in making Noosa what it is today and the achievements were hard won.
Noosa Parks Association commissioned Tony Wellington to create the book Noosa & Cooloola as part of its 50th Anniversary celebrations. The book is a wonderful celebration of our natural assets. It reveals both the familiar and hidden worlds of Noosa and Cooloola: landscapes, wildlife and flora all represented in the stunning imagery.
Plus the text provides a fascinating account of how local residents worked to rescue Noosa and Cooloola from mining, logging and unfettered development.
With engaging text and magnificent full colour photographs, this book is a glowing testament to one of the oldest and arguably most successful conservation groups in Australia.
